Sports Afield and Stream for Warriors
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, ADVENTURES, HUNTING & FISHING
SUPPORT ONF WITH MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR POST 9-11 WOUNDED VETERANS. Operation Never Forgotten (ONF) brought large groups of OEF/OIF injured Veterans and their families from around the country to Montana for healing in the winter of 2010 and summer of 2011.
THERE'S A NEW BATTLEFIELD... on the homefront after Iraq or Afghanistan. Through these S.A.S. adaptive winter and summer sports-based activities, adventure-based education, wilderness serenity, hunting, fishing, PTSD workshops, comradeship and mentorship... Warriors and their families heal mentally and emotionally. Warriors discover new adaptations physically by redefining the perception of the possible. Help give back to our warriors with lifetime opportunities!
WHAT "S.A.S." STANDS FOR: Outdoor Sports, hunting Afield and fishing by Stream. Warriors and their caregivers take to exciting and meaningful times together to help overcome obstacles. Through ONF warriors receive opportunities to take on challenging outdoor sports/activities, fly fish, spend relaxing time in the backcountry, big game hunt and even a cattle ranch vacation. See the trips warriors win!
WHY MONTANA... ONF's SAS events have been held in southwest Montana to include Bozeman, Big Sky and Yellowstone because this area is one of the nation’s most desirable destinations for its serenity, wilderness resources, vast outdoor recreational opportunities, big game trophy hunting and blue-ribbon trout rivers for fishing.
THE FIRST TWO SAS EVENTS: The winter SAS event kicked-off with ONF's Spokesman, Lee Greenwood at Big Sky Resort January 7th, 2011. This week-long event brought snow/ice sports and adventures, along with hunting and fishing clinics and trips to win. ONF hosted the second SAS event again at Big Sky Resort in the summer of July 17th, 2012. The public was invited to support warriors, their friends, families and participating outfitters/guides for great music entertainment, comedy, speakers, celebrity signatured auctions and great food! There were also several well known celebrities sending their thanks and words of encouragement by video at each SAS event.
TRANSITIONS FOR WARRIORS THROUGH FAMILIES AND OTHER VETERANS... Warriors and caregivers are inspired after attending S.A.S. events. They can choose to attend invisible wound workshops with other Veterans after receiving successful treatment. They hang on to hope after lifetime opportunities. They take knowledge, tools and resources home to their communities to reach out to more warriors and caregivers. Caregivers are the backbone to reaching more warriors through educated, intervention and recovery. The more we reach families the more we can reach Veterans within families.
HELP STOP THE STIGMA... because our Veterans are highly skilled and prideful. Too many won't admit to having PTSD issues and won't go for treatment. Eventually, some Veterans can lose hope and fall into patterns of addictions, crime, broken marriages and even suicide. You can help warriors with physical injuries, PTSD and traumatic brain injury (TBI) by supporting ONF's awareness campaigns and S.A.S. events.
DONATE TODAY... ONF is a 501(c)3 non-profit and 100% volunteer organization with no paid administration or staff so donations go straight to the warrior. A donation of your time, professional services, products or any amount helps!
